Kayak guestions?
« on: July 18, 2018, 02:09:08 PM »

Alright, I'm going to get a kayak for fishing. Any recommendations for a good stable unit?  I see some have a tri-hull design.
Thanks

Neighbor has a new one, first, and its the peddle powered paddle wheel beneath. Easy mover and flip a lever and has a reverse. He really likes it for cruising and fishing.

I would encourage you to decide first whether you want a climb-on or climb-in unit.

I've seen where a guy dumped his kayak and couldn't get back in nor empty the water out of it and had to get towed back to shore. Not a good thing by one's self in the middle of nowhere.

I don't plan on getting on one without a life
Jacket.  Had a guy drown here on the Menominee a couple yrs ago in the fall right under the Hattie St bridge.  Kayak tipped over and I heard he got tangled up in a rope.
Just have a hard time justifying $1800  for a peddle drive system.

Found one of these on Craislist.  So I stopped by Gander in Green Bay to check them out.  They were having a grand opening sale.  I got a brand new unit for two hundred cheaper than the used!
Went out this morning on the Menominee River.  First time in a kayak.  Seems very stable.  Just need to get the arms used to this, and I didn't get skunked either.
