Anyone up-to-date on quality skin mounts for lakers among the taxidermists up here? How about reproductions?  Appreciate the suggestions!

I'll be following this as well as we may be looking for a reproduction.  I know there has to be some talented taxidermist in the Yoop.

Call Carl Brown at Northern Nights Resort on Autrain Lake.  He had a couple big ones mounted recently and they looked nice to me.  They're  at the resort in his bait shop...Hey Al...did you see them in there.....What did you think?

I've used Chocolay River Taxidermy, 906-361-8000. Not the fastest, but the mounts look great. This is the last one he did for my Great Uncle

If you can't find someone you like local I have one from the Rock that a guy in Green Bay did for me. He did a great job matching the colors to the pictures I provided and got it back to me in about 8 months. Let me know if you want to see some pictures or want his contact info.

I’ve got a 32 pound laker skin mount due for pickup this week from North Country Legends in Esky.    Will try to remember to post a pic.

This much I do know today:  It ain’t a cheap date.  He had nice work in his shop when I dropped it off.

Thanks guys, this mount will be made from a fish my wife's boss' son caught out at Stannard Rock. You all know how colorful those lakers are, so this is what Ed is trying to get replicated for Mathew.

That fish did come out quite well, congratulations.  Most folks miss extending the vermiculation pattern down well-into the belly, and they get the fin color gradation wrong. Rich Cooley had one done locally that he hung in his office.  The fish oils eventually bled through on the head because it was not scraped properly. I doubt if he put it up after moving to practice in Esky...
